Support My Journey
June 10, 2010 was the day I found out my
father Antonio Aquino, who was made of steel and who was the strongest human I
knew, had kidney cancer. I still
remember it, the doctor began speaking about removing the kidney, going to see
an oncologist, starting chemo and radiation while the whole thing seemed so
surreal and I shook my head in disbelief. On that day I realized that the
strongest man I knew was going to have a battle ahead of him and would
need to try and fight this horrible disease.
The brilliant teams at
Princess Margaret Hospital took care of this amazing man I called my
"father". They did all they could to help him fight this battle
with dignity. But the cancer took a toll and my father, my rock died on
February 25, 2011 with his family by his side. We always hoped for the best, but it was a
terrible time in our lives. My father was always incredibly positive about his
ability to beat the disease. He was brave and strong throughout!
This year I decided in his memory I would
make a change and do something to help others, in his honour. I am now a
personal player for the SCOTIABANK® ROAD HOCKEY TO CONQUER
Antonio Aquino loved hockey
so what a great way to help this cause but to do it in his legacy!
would like to thank you for taking the time to visit my SCOTIABANK® ROAD
HOCKEY TO CONQUER CANCER personal Player Page. SCOTIABANK® ROAD
HOCKEY TO CONQUER CANCER is a Dawn-to-Dusk fundraising event with the proceeds
going towards The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation.
There was over 206,200 estimated new cases of cancer in
Canada in 2017. 80,800 of these cases
will result in deaths – it’s time to take a stand against this devastating
disease. That's why I've decided to participate in SCOTIABANK® ROAD HOCKEY
TO CONQUER CANCER and help raise money to support The Princess Margaret
Cancer Foundation in their mission to eradicate cancer and improve the lives of
those living with cancer.
With the generous support and donations from my friends
and family I intend on reaching my goal amount so I can truly help make a
difference in the fight against cancer! It is time to get off the bench and
into the game, so please consider supporting my fundraising campaign a donation
– any amount helps.
