Support My Journey
2019 represents the 9th Road Hockey To Conquer Cancer Event, and I am proud to say I have participated in every one. We have had years of extreme cold and others of extreme heat. I am always exhausted at the end of the event and sometimes a little bruised up. It is in those post event moments of reflection however where it becomes clear why we are doing this. I think of all my patients over the years and their own highs and lows. I work hard with other members of the clinical and research teams at Princess Margaret to make the journey better for our patients and to find ways of reducing the number of patients we have to see in the 1st place. We have all been touched by cancer in one way or another and I would like to take the opportunity to thank all of the previous
supporters of the OVARIAN BLITZERS.
Our research program has grown in 2019 and we have initiatives in all areas: Improvements in technology, better tools for learning, molecular analysis of tumors, improvements in surgery outcomes. The funds raised from this event go directly to fund these initiatives.
One of the initiatives funded by this support was the Prevent Ovarian Cancer Program. Not only did this program identify women at risk for ovarian cancer and provide us key information about how these risks come in to play, the program also identified women to allow them to make important life saving choices. This program has saved lives!
We at the hospital continue to push forward to find newer
and better ways to deliver the care to patients. We are 100% committed, and with your help, we
will keep fighting in this battle against cancer. GAME ON CANCER!
