Thanks for coming to see my story. So many of us have been impacted by cancer. Whether directly, or indirectly, we have seen confusion, pain, ups and downs, and we have experienced our own fear as we walk through the many tests and treatments.
I have seen my grandmother, grandfather, mother, uncle(s) and near-and-dear friends suffer from this disease, and I really want to change that.
I know that many years ago, the way to treat cancer was to cut it out and hope for the best - cancer runs in my family. Today though, I hear of many almost-miraculous treatments that can target and blast cancer out of a person's body! The ability to treat cancer when it happens can only get better if we invest in research to get there.
You see, in my case, it's not if I experience cancer.. it's when. Cancer is so strongly linked to genetics that I am likely to feel it hit me at some point in my lifetime and I want to know that I can access leading edge research to help me with my fight. That's why I am doing this... for all of us who may one day have to face cancer. Let's arm ourselves with the best solutions.
SCOTIABANK® ROAD HOCKEY TO CONQUER CANCER is a Dawn-to-Dusk fundraising event with the proceeds going towards The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation.
There will be over 173,800 estimated new cases of cancer in Canada this year alone. 76,200 of these cases will result in deaths - it's time to take a stand against this devastating disease. That's why I've decided to participate in SCOTIABANK® ROAD HOCKEY TO CONQUER CANCER and help raise money to support The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation in their mission to eradicate cancer and improve the lives of those living with cancer.
With the generous support and donations from my friends and family I intend on reaching my goal amount so I can truly help make a difference in the fight against cancer! It’s time to get off the bench and into the game, so please consider supporting my fundraising campaign a donation – any amount helps.
