Dear Friends and Family,
September 29, 2018 will be the fifth year Brampton Brick, my teammates and I have participated in Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer benefiting the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation.
Princess Margaret Cancer Centre is one of the Top 5 Cancer Research Centres in the World, located right here in Toronto. Its clinical trials program is the largest in Canada and one of the largest in the world, with over 700 active trials. Princess Margaret Cancer Centre is also the only non-U.S. site chosen to be part of the Cancer Immunotherapy Trials Network funded by the US National Cancer Institute.
Producing advances in the scientific understanding of cancer in order to deliver more effective therapies and practices requires enormous investment, ingenuity and expertise.
The SCOTIABANK® ROAD HOCKEY TO CONQUER CANCER funds have been used to support the following:
$1.4 million to purchase cutting edge research equipment and support cancer research activities in the PMCC research expansion. Focus on:
Genomics & Epigenetics ($0.4 million)
Immunotherapy ($0.4 million)
Cancer Stem Cells & Tumor Biology ($0.5 million)
Biobank related research
$900,000 to support research at The Campbell Family Cancer Research Institute
$150,000 for innovation research grants
$100,000 to support the surgical robotics program for gynecological cancer patients
$533,000 for the enhancement and support of the first in-hospital Survivorship Clinic and Program in Canada
