Thanks for taking a moment to visit my personal Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer page. As many of you know, my father passed away almost 3 years ago from Leukemia. During his fight with cancer, he was treated at Princess Margaret Hospital, which is part of what makes this event so meaningful to me. Last year, I participated in my first RHTCC event, bringing colleagues from Reebok and the adidas Group together to join in the fight. The event was fantastic - from Darryl Sittler's moving speech to kick off the day, to the camaraderie on our team, to having my family come down to watch me play and cheer me on. While fighting cancer isn't fun, this special day brought so many positive, passionate people together that it inspired me to return for another year. Not only am I playing this year, but I've taken on a role as an Honorary Chair to help promote the event within the community.
Last year, through the generosity of so many of you, I raised over $4000, and our team raised over $20000 - not bad for 1 day! I appreciate that we are all asked to give & support many charities & causes throughout the year, and I understand as well if you have already committed to other initiatives. However if you are able to support me as I embark on another marathon day of road hockey, I would truly appreciate your help.
I play this tournament in honor of my father. He was a great man - he lived with passion, humor, humility, and compassion for those around him. He gave his time, his energy and his consideration to anyone who asked, and even those who didn't. I take inspiration from him every day, and hope that in small ways, I continue to bring his spirit to the things I do in my life.
Thanks again for stopping by, and for any support you're able to give. Game On Cancer - we're coming for you, and we will conquer cancer in our lifetime through the help of people like you!
